Ladbrokes continues to change

Ladbrokes continues to fight for its place in the online industry with a bold new move on the part of CEO Richard Glynn who has decided to dispose of the services of Ladbrokes head of online Gary McIlraith after less than one year in the position.

This is part of Glynn’s continuous effort to restructure the Ladbrokes group and do away with the separate divisions for online, telephone betting and retails betting shops. Instead the company is looking to reorganize itself into three new areas of products, customers and channels.

The planned new management structure will include Richard Ames, current managing director of the UK and Ireland retails who will take the position of Product management. Nick Rust current head of retail will take the position of Channels manager and Stephen Vowles who currently heads the customer experience division will take over as Customers manager.

A spokesperson for Ladbrokes stated that the company is “moving away from being run as separate business divisions for digital, telephone betting and retail, to a structure that will allow us to put the customer at the heart of what Ladbrokes offers.” and added that a formal announcement as to the changes in senior management is expected shortly.

Glynn himself only joined the company in May 2010 after transitioning from Sporting Index. These are not the first major top management change that Glynn introduced in an effort to better position the company in the UK and world markets.

The first major dismissal Glynn instigated as CEO was in August of last year when John O’Reilly who was MD of remote gaming and betting’ and served Ladbrokes for 18 years was asked to leave. This was followed in November by the dismissal of Ed Andrewes, MD of egaming and Alex Kovach who was head of International and mobile who was dismissed in March this year.

Glynn hopes that his restructuring of Ladbrokes will lead the company to reclaim its rightful place as a leading gaming and betting brand and provide William Hill with serious competition in the UK and European markets.
