Maryland Looks Set to Compete with LasVegas

Players who live closer to Maryland than Las Vegas or Atlantic City will be pleased to know that table games are being introduced in the state. Until November 2012, it was only possible to play slots at casinos in the state. At the end of the year, voters approved table games and this will give players in the area much greater freedom in their playing sessions.

Neal Sloane, who is in charge of setting up table games at the Maryland Live Casino (the state's largest and most popular casino), says that high-stake table games create a different atmosphere and attract a different type of gambler. He also pointed out that a lot of potential players have had to travel out of the state to satisfy their gambling needs, but that they now will be able to enjoy their favorite games without having to fly or drive for hours. A lot of players will be pleased about this as they will be able to spend more of their money on gambling and less on travelling.

Another huge upside to the news is that the new table games will create up to 1,200 new jobs at the Maryland Live Casino. With more than 120 tables, the casino will need a large work force to host each table. The plans also include building a two-level poker room, but work on this will not be finished until the Summer. Other games will be introduced at the casino on 11th April.
